I will add more information to this section on HDD’s in this area formation.<\/p>\n

I got some new HDD’s that needs to go into a Desktop, however, to get full capacity of the Labeled 12TB HDD it needs to be formatted correctly.<\/p>\n

MBR wasn’t letting the HDD show the higher capacity this is where the GPT fixed this limitation, after following the video below it all turned out just fine.<\/p>\n

\"news\" Plese do remember if you’re converting any HDD using formatting process do backup your data always onto external HDD’s.<\/p>\n

Step (1)<\/strong> You need to get to the administrator command prompt.<\/p>\n

Goto – Hover your mouse over the Windows Start Menu, – Right Click on it, – Choose Windows Terminal (Admin).<\/p>\n

KEYBOARD SHORTCUT<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

Windows Key + R, type cmd in the box.<\/p>\n

\nIn command prompt type: diskpart<\/p>\n

\nThen when moves into DISKPART> type: list disk<\/p>\n

It will show all the HDD’s that are MBR or GPT, the * tells you if you HDD is already GPT no * = to MBR.<\/p>\n

\nStep (4)<\/strong><\/p>\n

To select the selected disk type in select disk 2 and hit enter.<\/span><\/strong>
\nDISKPART> SELECT DISK 2<\/p>\n

You should get the message.<\/p>\n

DISK 2 IS NOW THE SLECTED DISK.<\/p>\n

Step (5)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now that the disk is selected it needs to be formatted, type clean and hit enter.<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

DISKPART> CLEAN<\/p>\n

DiskPart succeeded in cleaning the disk.<\/p>\n


\nStep (6)<\/strong><\/p>\n

Now to covert the disk to Gpt<\/span><\/strong><\/p>\n

DISKPART>CONVERT GPT<\/p>\n

Diskpart successfully converted the selected disk to Gpt format.<\/p>\n

Step (7)<\/strong><\/p>\n

To check your disks to make sure it was converted correctly type the following below.<\/p>\n

DISKPART>LIST DISK<\/p>\n

The disks information list should show that the HDD that was MBR is now GPT.<\/p>\n

This is what fixed all my HDD’s to be usable after buying them new.<\/p>\n
