I for one have very sensitive skin so I can’t use harsh blades or razors on my skin. I have tried battery operated shavers to razors and shaving cream.
The shave was clean on the first try with a Philips Norelco shaver wet or dry but here’s what happened to me within 4 to 5 days after;

Super clean feel after the shave.

Pours are very shallow.

Saved against the grain.

Using warm water or in the shower, I tried both wet and dry.

With both gel and my own cream.

My face became a burning sensation with bumps and very uncomfortable to feel, so I left my face alone for about 2 weeks before any close shaving again so the bumps will go down and away, washing your face with medical soap does help with the skin (those special soaps that gets deep into the pours) along with warm water, keeping your pours clean is very important in avoiding bumps but if your skin is extra sensitive like mine that will not work.

The blades angles are just cutting your hair to deep so when it’s in the follicle canal and growing back it’s any slight tilt in the follicle will cause your skin to irritate and cause bumps, since mixed people or people of color hair curls all the time the hair when growing will either come out of the skin at a bad angle and bend right back into the skin breaking the surface causing the bumps.

With shaver that is a no no, use only one time ever and never again.

Now today I use a andis T-liner to shave with and it works fine against my skin, I shave against the grain and this works very well, I always make sure the blades are well lubricated and adjusted to cut close and not cut the skin, I have been using this for years now without any razor or ingrown hair problems.

Im currently working on a method to straighten bended hair coming out from the skin, once I find something that works I will update here.

Ingrown Hair Ashton N.W. /AN My Method dealing with this, New York.
