The Coney Island Mermaid Parade Portraits of 2016.

The Mermaid Parade of June 20th, 2016.
This season things have changed allot more than they did in the past, in the beginning I met some really cool interesting people that had the passion into the images that freeze time in its tracks. Along the way people came into the frames of time to be held forever. I was on the scene very early this morning as the stands went up and the cars drove in. It was a very clear morning being out on surf ave. Some of the cars remain the same, it looks like that’s the fun of things is really what it’s all about. 👣

A Brief History:
The Coney Island Mermaid Parade takes place every year in Coney Island, New York in mid-to-late June.
The tradition of the Coney Island Mermaid Parade began in 1983, when the first event of this kind was conceptualized and organized by Dick Zigun, who is sometimes dubbed the “Mayor of Coney Island”, and who was the founder of the non-profit arts group Coney Island USA.
The Mermaid Parade is held in celebration of the beginning of the summer season, and so it traditionally takes place on the Saturday closest to the calendar start of summer, regardless of the weather. The last six parades (up to 2013) were held on June 21, 2008; June 20, 2009; June 19, 2010; June 18, 2011; June 23, 2012; June 22, 2013. The 2014 parade is to be held on Saturday June 21st, starting at 1 pm.

Walking from corner to corner there wasn’t even a small crowd even for a while, we had to check a few blocks after a while when things remain too quiet for the while. We founded some people in the other blocks and began shooting some frames.

Some people wasn’t in the mood to take pictures for some reason, I’m really not sure on what’s the side effects that caused that but coming to an even like this pictures and rushing to take people photos is very expect-able in its own way, I would expect that anyone being in this would understand that the excitement of getting them is really what most photographers go to the even for, it is what I drive for in the very best way possible.

As the time gone on by there will come the time to look back over the years that blew passed by going into another round of events that will help reflect the events that everyone shared on a very nice basis compared to other nations where it’s tight enclosed when it comes to taking images of things like this. The good part of all most of us were still allowed to enjoy the event without having a group as the evening swings on in as the people headed up the boardwalk where things got much more social, I didn’t take it into the night. As I slowly headed out from it all, the moments that were captures are for a lifetime and will be greatly missed.👣
