Easter Parade Bonnet Festival.

Passion keeps the flow flowing, by Ashtonsia, heading out on a early morning directly to see the hats on fifth Ave, what would the rest of the day look like is only an imagination since I haven’t seen this even in years, from 49th street to 59th street the people were stretched corner to corner.

A Brief History:
The Easter parade is an American cultural event consisting of a festive strolling procession on Easter Sunday. Typically, it is a somewhat informal and unorganized event, with or without religious significance. Persons participating in an Easter parade traditionally dress in new and fashionable clothing, particularly ladies’ hats, and strive to impress others with their finery. The Easter parade is most closely associated with Fifth Avenue in New York City, but Easter parades are held in many other cities. Starting as a spontaneous event in the 1870s, the New York parade became increasingly popular into the mid-20th century in 1947, it was estimated to draw over a million people.
Its popularity has declined significantly, drawing only 30,000 in 2008.

The Timeless:
Gathering my own visual information as I walk through the Easter Parade and Easter Bonnet Festival in Manhattan on Sunday, there were flowers, rabbits, decorations of all sorts on top on huge hats affixed to their owners’ heads. Different nationalities shared their culture in the same way with the touch of the Easter bunny in the air.

The area covered the usual space of the event where the hats on fifth ave entertained the spectators as there were photographs and cheers as hats where matched along with a uniform style, some were not and just as excitements grew.
The people loved the creativity and couldn’t get enough of it, many just took as much photos as they can, as the weather warmed up a bit the crowd got bigger and bigger. I notice that many others came out latter closer to noon and into the evening than in the morning time.
This is New York City a place that have just about everything in it ranging from all cultures that holds their own events to all events and special holidays that represent all people and all nations from around the world.

I can’t tell you which was the best hat since there were many and endless to choose from, but it has been one of the best Easter Parade Bonnet Festivals that I have bin to. Do enjoy the images and get a taste of its beauty, creativity and richness from all the people. 👣
